Hue and Cry
I've loved this film since I was a kid. I don't really know why, there are no outstanding performances or award winning cinematography. I guess it's because it reminds me of Sunday afternoons when I was young, a lot of the action takes place in the streets of London that I love and remember well. Alistair Sym is excellent as always and it's nice to see Jack Warner out of his Dixon of Dock Green uniform on the other side of the law. If none of the above makes any sense to you, then you're in the wrong place kid. |
Still Crazy
This film is right up my Strasse! It has humour, rock music and Billy Connolly! Written by my favourite comedy writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, the film is about a 70's rock band who try to make a comeback in the 90's. Great performances from Bill Nighy, Billy Connolly and Irishman Stephen Rea. Great music too co-written by Mick Jones of Foreigner among others. |
13 Rue Madeleine
Documentary-style prologue follows training of O.S.S. agents for WWII work behind enemy lines. One of the group is a German mole; leaders Gibson and Sharkey are aware of this and scheme to feed him false information about the invasion of Europe, while the real agents go to France to find a secret V-2 rocket depot. But the German spy outsmarts them and rejoins his people knowing too much; Bob Sharkey takes the risk of going in after him. |
Absolution
At a Catholic public school, Benjamin Stanfield is tired of being the teacher's pet and decides to play a practical joke on his form master Father Goddard. In confession, Stanfield tells Goddard that he has accidentally murdered his friend Blakey and buried him in the forest. |
